If you own at Long Trail House, your address is a hundred paces from the Clocktower and about the same from Grizzly's back door. That geography gets discounted the moment the lifts stop turning in April and doesn't get repriced until Thanksgiving. The premise of this post is that the discount is wrong. Between August 8 and late March, the Village runs a nearly unbroken calendar of concerts, food events, endurance weekends, and holiday programming, and a resident across the street collects most of it for the price of a walk.
What follows is not a preview of ski season. It's the seven-month window your unit is actually earning during, mapped by date and named venue, with the two new indoor rooms that have quietly changed where you can spend a Tuesday in November.
The August the Village Doesn't Advertise
Harvest and Rust, one of the Northeast's premier Neil Young tribute bands, plays the Stratton outdoor stage on August 8, 2026. The setlist swings from the acoustic side of "Harvest" through "Rust Never Sleeps," fronted by Garrett Lechowski with Andy Gordon on pedal steel, and doors open at 5:30pm. From Long Trail House, that's a five-minute walk with your own glass, and the Stratton Season Pass or Ikon Pass gets you in for the pre-registration price.
A week later the pattern repeats in daylight: the Village Farmers Market returns to the courtyard on August 15, then rolls through September. Between the two dates, the outdoor Saturday afternoon concerts continue in the base area free of charge, weather permitting; if the sky opens, the band moves inside Grizzly's rather than canceling.
HarvestFest Weekend Is the Loud One. Two Days on Either Side Are the Ones to Plan Around.
HarvestFest brings flannels and fall cheer to the Village with live music, scenic lift rides, peak foliage, and the season finale of mountain biking. Owners who've been through it know Saturday's Brewfest and Sunday's Oktoberfest are the anchor events; Brewfest samples Vermont ales, lagers, porters, sours, and ciders with live music from The Mallet Brothers and Saints & Liars, and Oktoberfest brings The Amish Outlaws, a stein hoisting competition, a keg toss, brats, and runs 11:30am to 6pm.
The events you should actually be reserving in August are the softer ones. The Family Foliage Dinner at Mid-Mountain Lodge, with live music and a curated menu, has sold out in past years. The North Face Tails and Trails hike goes up to the summit with a free gondola ride back to the base from 9am to 10am on Sunday. Both are inside the perimeter of your morning coffee walk. Neither survives a last-minute plan.
The Stratton Fire Tower at the summit, built in 1912 by the Stratton Mountain Club and rebuilt in 1934, marks the crossing of the Long and Appalachian Trails. Together with the original spotter's cabin, Porcupine Lodge, it sits on the National Register of Historic Places. The Village restaurant borrowed both names.
What 29029 Everesting Does to Your Neighborhood for 36 Hours
Between October 22 and October 25, 2026, Stratton hosts 29029 Everesting, with a base camp village of bands, bonfires, and luxury tipi tents built at the mountain. The hiking challenge runs from 6am Friday to 6pm Saturday, with the gondola running the full period so participants can hike whenever they want. Each participant has 36 hours to climb the mountain as many times as they can, roughly seventeen summits to equal Everest's elevation gain.
For a resident, this weekend is unusual. Participant lodging is contracted with Stratton Village Hotels, so the population of the Village pivots from leaf-peeper day-trippers to a self-contained endurance community for four nights. Grizzly's, Fire Tower, and Mulligan's are running, but the mood on the pedestrian bricks is closer to a base camp than a resort weekend. If you like watching headlamps drift up the mountain after dark from your deck, this is your event of the year.
The Between-Weeks: Late October to Opening Day
The stretch from November 1 to Thanksgiving is where the "shoulder season" argument usually gets made. Two things have changed the math.
- Test Kitchen. A grab-and-go concept billed as "your new go-to for grab-and-go eats on Stratton Mountain," open for winter 2025-26 and running into the 2026-27 season. Useful the way a good bodega is useful: a quick dinner when you don't want to sit down.
- Fire Tower Restaurant & Tavern. Eclectic comfort fare in a rustic setting at 6E Village Square, with the Porcupine Lounge inside the tavern for handcrafted cocktails and local Vermont beer. Recognized as the #1 Après-Ski Dining spot in New England by OpenTable. The tavern side keeps a fire going through the pre-season lull.
- Mulligan's, at 11B Village Square, has been open since 1988 and houses Snowfish Sushi, the Green Door Pub, and The Drift under one roof. Three menus, one walk.
- Bar 802 and Benedict's fill the coffee-and-brunch end of the day, with Upper Standard Coffee Company across from the Real Estate Building for a shorter stop.
Opening day for the 2025-26 season landed on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the mountain's 65th winter. Barring weather, the 2026-27 season should turn the lifts on a similar week. Which means the "quiet" window at Long Trail House is about three weeks long, and even that is walkable to a hot meal.

The winter calendar is dense enough that owners tend to lose track of which weekend is which. Here it is in one place.

The pattern that matters: from mid-December through late March, there is an event weekend every three to four weeks, plus two full holiday weeks. If you're a weekend owner from the metros, you can hit six of them without repeating.
A Saturday You Can Walk To
To make the geography concrete, here's a workable Saturday during HarvestFest weekend from a Long Trail House door.
- Breakfast at Benedict's, ordered on the mimosa-flight side of the menu.
- Scenic gondola up the Stratton summit before the crowds hit; hike the short spur to the Fire Tower for the four-state view.
- Brewfest in the courtyard from early afternoon, pacing yourself for The Mallet Brothers.
- A shorter stop at Test Kitchen for something to carry home so you're not committed to a second sit-down.
- Dinner at Fire Tower, ideally at the Porcupine Lounge bar rather than the dining room.
- Nightcap at Table 43.1 in Black Bear Lodge, which stays open later than the Village restaurants.
No car. No parking garage math. That's the argument this address has been making since it was built.
The Point
The reason to write down this calendar is that most Long Trail House owners underuse it. Ski weeks are protected on the calendar in September; the concert, farmers market, endurance, and shoulder-season weekends usually aren't. If your unit is going to earn its keep between April and November, the earning happens on specific dates with specific names. Put them in your phone.
